The second largest credit card company in the world recently made headlines after offering customers the chance to be featured with some of the most famous singers in the United Kingdom.

MasterCard announced that it was introducing the Something for the Fans competition, in conjunction with the annual BRIT Awards. The winners of the contest will be able to take part in a so-called Priceless Duet with some leading stars in the U.K. including Emeli Sande, Labrinth and JLS.

MasterCard's head of brand and sponsorship in Ireland and the U.K., Shaun Springer, said that the promotional campaign would leverage online platforms.

"Social media engagement will be an important channel for this campaign and we will be maximising both our own channels and those of participating artists and their fans to engage and excite consumers around the competition and really give something back to the fans," he said.

The company made other news in recent weeks when it partnered with other U.K. organizations. The firm came to an agreement with Livebookings to help members get access to better merchant services.
